Samarinda (ANTARA News) - East Kalimantan reported a 27.85 percent increase in exports to US$8.39 billion in the first half of the year from US$6.56 billion in the same period last year.
"The main export commodities from East Kalimantan include mineral fuels, organic and inorganic chemicals, timber and timber products, etc," head of the regional Central Bureau of Statistic (BPS) M Habibullah said here on Wednesday.
Exports of mineral fuels were valued at US$7.71 billion up 30.21 percent from US$5.92 billion in the same period last year. Oil and gas accounted for US$2.06 billion and coal contributed US$5.64 billion.
Exports of animal and vegetable fats and oils were valued at US$271.63 million, exports of chemicals , precious metals were valued at US$173.31 million, exports of timber and timber products were valued at US$108.73 million .
Other export commodities of the province are fertilizers, machines and mechanical equipment and spare parts.
The main countries of destinations for oil and gas were Japan to which exports were valued at US$709.25 million, South Korea US$346.09 million, Taiwan US$497.19 million , Thailand US$98.82 million and Singapore US$132.86 million.
"The main countries of destination for other commodities included China to which exports were valued at US$1.31 billion, India US$1.6 billion, South Korea US$778.91 billion, Japan US$685.35 million, the Philippines US$388.48 million, Taiwan US$358.16 million, Thailand US$314.68 million, Malaysia US$268.93 million and Pakistan US$93.61 million," Habibullah said.
