Samarinda, E. Kalimantan (Antaranews) - East Kalimantan exported US$7.38 billion worth of goods in the first five months of the year , the provincial Central Bureau of Statistics (BPS) said.
The export earning was 4.08 percent higher than US$7.09 billion recorded in the same period last year, head of the provincial BPS Atqo Mardiyanto said here on Wednesday.
Oil and gas accounted for US$1.34 billion of the total export earning in the first five months of the year with other commodities accounting for US$6.05 billion.
The oil and gas export earning dropped 21.88 percent year-on-year and the earning from the exports of other commodities rose 12.36 percent.
East Kalimantan is currently the country`s largest producer of oil and gas. Its main non-oil/gas export commodities include coal and crude palm oil and timber.
Its export destinations include China, Japan, South Korea Pakistan, Taiwan and Australia. (*)
