Samarinda, E. Kalimantan (Antaranews) - East Kalimantan recorded a 72.36 percent increase in imports to US$1.07 billion (Rp14.79 trillion) in the first quarter of 2018 from US$626.49 million in the same period last year.
The province imported various commodities mainly mineral fuels valued at US$795.11 million in the three months period, up 76.07 percent from US$451.58 million in the same period last year, head of the regional office of the Central Bureau of Statistics Atqo Mardiyanto said here on Sunday.
The mineral fuels imported by East Kalimantan included oil and gas valued at US$794.63 million and other types of fuel valued at US$480,000, Atgo said.
Other commodities imported by the province in the first quarter of this year included nuclear reactor, kettles, machinery, and mechanical devices valued at US$148.2 million , up 92.74 percent from US$76.89 million in the same period last year; and motor vehicles valued at US$29.69 million, up 54.24 percent year-on-year, rubber and rubber goods, fertilizer, iron and steel products, electronic goods, etc.
The goods were imported from various countries including China, Germany, Japan, Australia, Sweden, Nigeria, Libya, Turkey, Malaysia, South Korea and Singapore. (AS). (*)
