Samarinda, E Kalimantan (ANTARA News) - The Ministry of Tourism will continue to intensively promote Wonderful Indonesia overseas, because the brand is now ranked at the 47th position in the world since 2015.
"The ranking of Wonderful Indonesia at the 47th position in the world by Travel and Tourism Competitiveness Index of the World Economic Forum (WEF) encourages us to continue the promotion," an Expert at the Tourism Ministry, Surya Yuga, said here on Thursday.
Earlier, Wonderful Indonesia was at the 140th position at the international level. After renewing the brand, logo, and making vigorous promotion, the ranks increased to 47 out of 144 countries, he stated.
According to Surya, the brand is important to introduce a country, especially in order to promote the tourism sector to the international world.
"We should be grateful for the rank as we are above Thailand at the 83rd position and Malaysia at the 97th position out of the 144 countries," Surya noted.
Meanwhile, an academician, Ramadan S. Pernyata, remarked that a brand is a perception and imagination that represents a company or product, and therefore a logo should be interesting and powerful.
Each institution, let alone a country, is required to have a brand to be easily recognized and remembered by anyone, he revealed. (*)
