Balikpapan, E. Kalimantan (ANTARA News) - Malaysia Healthcare Travel Council (MHTC) has invited Balikpapan (East Kalimantan) community to conduct medical check-ups in a number of Malaysian cities, Assistant Marketing Manager of MHTC Danil Hikman Mohd Dahlan said here Friday, November 27.

"This event has a theme of Health Investment, aimed at encouraging the Indonesian people, especially in Balikpapan to get medical check-ups done while travelling to Malaysia," Danil Hikman said here at an event named "Me Time With Friends", The Beauty Healthcare Trip.

The event saw the participation of representatives from Ramsay Sime Darby Healthcare hospital, Mahkota Medical Center hospital, and Sunway Medical Center hospital, which provide medical care travel tour to the Balikpapan community.

"Health becomes the most important thing for a living," Danil Hikman said.

The first step for the prevention of disease is to get a medical check-up done, according to him.

"A medical check-up is the first step to know the symptoms of the disease in the body. A medical check-up is like a report card to assess the condition of the body and to evaluate and provide accurate information and analysis of the internal organs," Danil Hikman remarked.

There are 27 malignant diseases that can lead to death, and heart disease is the first one, then stroke, HIV/ AIDS, and acute respiratory infection, apart from perinatal complications, diarrhea, tuberculosis, and malaria. Cancer, diabetes, Ebola and others, are also on the list, he said.

"On an average, about 500 thousand Indonesians visit hospitals every year for medical treatment or consultation for cancer, cardio and indigestion," Danil Hikman added. (*)
