Samarinda, E. Kalimantan (Antaranews) - East Kalimantan`s imports rose 47.2 percent to US$2.03 billion (Rp27.88 trillion) in the first half of 2018 from US$1.3 billion in the same period last year.

Oil and gas accounted for US$1.43 billion and other commodities for US$602.68 million of the import value in the first half of the year, chief of the provincial Central Bureau of Statistics (BPS) Atqo Mardiyanto said here on Friday.

The oil and gas imports shot up 41.6 percent and the imports of other commodities rose 62.46 percent year-on-year, Atgo said.

The non-oil/gas commodities imported in the January-June period include nuclear reactors, kettles, machines and mechanical equipment, steel products, rubber goods, motor vehicles, etc.

Imports came from South Korea, China, Turkey, Germany , the United States and Australia, Atgo said. Reported by M.Ghofar (*)
