Samarinda, East Kalimantan (ANTARA News) - An entourage of French investors has visited the site where the National Science and Technology Park (NSTP) is to be constructed in the Buluminung Industrial Area, North Penajam Paser district, East Kalimantan province.

"After visiting the construction site, the French investor said the construction will not disturb the mangrove forests and ecosystem in the area. Besides, the park will have a good social impact on the surrounding communities," the head of the administration of North Penajam Paser district, Yusran Aspar, said here on Wednesday.

Yusran Aspar explained that the construction site largely consisted of a mangrove forest which is well preserved.

The visit showed how serious the French investors are to build the park in North Penajam Paser.

"If this development can lead to better prosperity of the people in North Penajam Paser, the administration will fully support the investment," he added.

The construction of the National Science and Technology Park is scheduled to begin in 2017. This year (2016), the administration will complete the process to acquire 57 hectares of land for the purpose.

The Buluminung Industrial Area has the Benua Taka seaport, a shipbuilding industry and a crude palm oil port built by a plantation company operating in this area.

The industrial area faces the Kariangau Industrial Area in Balikpapan, separated for miles by the Balikpapan Bay. (*)
