Balikpapan, E Kalimantan (ANTARA News) - The Public Works and Housing Ministry said construction of the Balikpapan-Samarinda toll road project would be completed and operational in 2019.
"The process of construction is progressing well. Hopefully it would be operational in 2019," Public Works and Housing Minister Basuki Hadimuljono said in a statement here on Wednesday.
Construction of the 99.35 kilometer toll road is estimated to cost Rp9.97 trillion. It is built by state-owned toll road developer PT Jasa Marga Balikpapan-Samarinda. Currently 12.82 percent of the road construction and 85.49 percent of land clearing had been completed.
The toll road is divided into five sections . Construction of the sectors 1 and 5 are financed by the Ministry and the East Kalimantan provincial administration, and the sections 2, 3 and 4 by PT Jasa Marga Balikpapan.
The fund for the construction of section 1 (Balikpapan km 13 -Samboja), 22.03 kilometer long sepanjang 22,03 km, is from the regional budget Rp1.5 trillion and from the state budget Rp271 billion for the Manggar bridge. The section 1 is to be completed this year or two years after the Order for the Start of Work. Currently 53.8 percent of the construction has been completed and the process of land clearing has been 95.16 percent wrapped up.
Construction of the 11.09 kilometer section 5 (Manggar-Balikpapan Km 13), is estimated to cost Rp848.55 billion to be completed in 2018. Completion is already 3.6 percent and land clearing is now 60.80 percent completed.
Work in the section 2(Samboja-Muara Jawa), section 3 (Muara Jawa-Palaran) and section 4 (Palaran-Samarinda) totaling 66.23 km long has reached 81.29 percent in land clearing and 1.89 percent in construction on the average.
Construction is carried out while land procurement is in process to meet the target for completion of the toll road, the minister said. (*)
