Samarinda, E. Kalimantan (ANTARA Kaltim) - The construction of railroads of Trans Borneo, which is currently in the alignment peg installation phase, is targeted for completion in 2020.

"The railway network to connect all regions in Kalimantan is a government program," Head of Land Transportation, Transportation Office of East Kalimantan province Mahmud Syamsul Hadi said here Monday.

The railway construction is being carried out in several stages.

The first stage is the installation of tracks from Tanjung district in South Kalimantan to Tana Grogot, Paser district in East Kalimantan measuring 150 km.

In 2016, the detailed design and analysis of the management and environmental impact will be completed by the South Kalimantan administration.

The second phase is the construction of the Tana Grogot lane to Balikpapan measuring 84 km.

An alignment study and detailed design by the government, and the environmental impact study by the East Kalimantan provincial administration is in progress for the Balikpapan to Samarinda lane, which is expected along 89 km.

The construction of this lane will be carried out in 2017 and 2018. (*)
