Samarinda (ANTARA News) - The assets of bank industry in East Kalimantan rose 3 percent to Rp79.38 trillion in the second quarter of this year from Rp94.54 trillion in the previous quarter.

The increase was one of the indicators of improvement in the economic condition of the province, head of the East Kalimantan representative of Bank Indonesia Mohd Irwan said here on Thursday.

The banking assets began to pick up in the past year after dropping sharply to Rp94.19 trillion in 2015 from Rp101.47 trillion in 2014.

Third party funds held by banks in the province totaled Rp76.57 trillion by the end of the second quarter of this year in giro, savings and deposits.

"The amount of third party fund has fluctuated but tended to rise . In 2014, third party funds held by banks in the province totaled Rp76.04 trillion , down to Rp73.24 trillion in 2015, but up to Rp73.87 trillion in 2016, and up again to Rp76.57 trillion by the end of the second quarter of 2017," Irwan said.
